Mother, two children electrocuted in Barishal

BARISHAL, Apr 28: A woman and her two minor children were electrocuted in Bakerganj Upazila of the district on Saturday noon.
The incident took place in Dalmara Village under Niamoti Union of the upazila at around 11:45 am.
The deceased were identified as Sonia Begum, 25, wife of Riaz Molla, their daughter Rejbina, 12, and son Salman, 9, residents of the aforesaid area.
Local sources said the torn wire of Palli Bidyut fell in a pond next to Riaz Mollas house. Rejbina and Salman came in contact with that electric wire while they tried to pick a lemon from the pond at around 11:45 am, which left them electrocuted. Sensing the matter, Sonia Begum rushed and attempted to rescue her children but she got also electrocuted. All of the three died on the spot.
Being informed, police visited the scene.    
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Saifur Rahman and Officer-in-Charge of Bakerganj Police Station Md Afzal Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
