Sk Russel returns to winning spree after six matches

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra found an occasion to celebrate as the team finally won a match on Saturday in Rajshahi after six matches in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2023-24.

The last match Sheikh Russel boys won in the league was against Brothers Union by 4-1 in February. After that they played six matches and lost four while drawn matches.

It was the Fortis boys who took the lead with a 31-minute goal by Pa Omar. Russel boys levelled the margin soon in the 36th minute following a goal by Ganiu and finally went ahead in the 64th minute with a goal by Abdullah.

Winning the match, Sheikh Russel FC now has a total of 14 points and holding the eighth place on the 10-team point table. Fortis FC, on the other hand, is at the sixth place with 16 points.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Police FC registered a 2-0 win over Old Dhakas Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society. There, Sahed Miah and Morillo netted the match winning goals.

In the last match of the day, Bashundhara Kings defeated Dhaka Abahani by 2-1 in its home venue in Dhaka.

The next matches of the league are scheduled to be played on May 10. There, Abahani Dhaka will meet Bangladesh Police FC and Rahmatganj MFS will face Sheikh Russel SC.
