Tech titans Liakat, Iqbal vie for BASIS presidency

In the upcoming Bangladesh Association of Software and InformationServices (BASIS) election to be held on 8 May, two prominent candidates are vying for the presidency. They  Liakat Hossain and Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan.

Liakat Hossain, an experienced tech entrepreneur and CEO of Babylon Resources Limited, emphasizes collaboration to achieve the Smart Bangladesh Dream.

He stresses the importance of professionalism in the software industry and proposes reforms to enhance local markets, public procurement policies, and sustainable practices within BASIS.
His vision includes establishing a welfare fund for BASIS members and creating an employee database to support industry development.

On the other hand, Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan, known as Divine Russell, brings decades of experience as the founder of Divine IT Limited, a leading software development company in Bangladesh.

With a track record of innovation and success, he aims to further develop the local software industry, secure significant government procurement, and establish BASISs own space by 2026.

He dreams of positioning Bangladesh as a global leader in IT innovation, nurturing homegrown talent, and reducing reliance on foreign IT services.

Both candidates offer compelling visions for the future of BASIS and the Bangladeshi software industry. Their leadership styles and proposed initiatives reflect their unique experiences and perspectives, leaving BASIS members with a challenging decision as they prepare to cast their votes on May 8th.
