Jalal Ahmed, former chairman of Petrobangla, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).

The government has appointed him to lead the energy regulatory body for the next three years.

Jalal’s appointment follows the resignation of the previous chairman, Nurul Amin, who stepped down amidst protests from officials and employees.

Nurul Amin had assumed the position on March 22, 2023.
On Tuesday, he submitted his resignation to the President's Office, citing personal reasons.
