BCL men attack Rajshahi Survey Institute

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Rajshahi City College unit allegedly attacked on Rajshahi Engineering and Survey Institute on Tuesday over a trifling matter.

 

During the attack the institute principal's room and some class rooms were vandalised while different important documents also were damaged.

 

Survey Institute's principal Mahbubur Rahman alleged that the institute's assistant store keeper Jahangir Alam went to nearer (in front of City College) shop for mobile phone recharge while an altercation took place between Jahangir and shop keeper Rana. At one stage of altercation, Rana allegedly beat up Jahangir, and Jahangir threatened to file case against Rana.

 

Following the incident, Rana and Rajshahi City College BCL general secretary Noor Faisal Prottoy, along with 10 to 15 BCL activists, attacked on the institute and vandalised different, rooms and furniture and damaged documents.

 

BCL leader Prottoy denied the allegation said that he just went to see the matter but he was not involved in the incident. Shop keeper Rana was unable to reach as his phone was switched off, and the shop was closed.

 

Aman Ullah, officer-in-charge of Boalia Model Police Station, said that, being informed, additional police was sent to the institute but the attackers left the scene meanwhile.

 

A case was filed in this regard and the accused will be arrested as soon as possible, the OC added.
