Campaign banner torched in Rajshahi; 3 Jubo Dal men held

Rajshahi: Police have arrested three Jubo Dal activists in Gushpara area in connection with torching a campaign banner of government ahead of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit in Rajshahi.

 

Arrested Papon, 32, Rabbul, 35, and Utthpal, 37, are the residents of Gushpara area in district city.

 

Office in-Charge (OC) of Rajpara Police Station Hafijur Rahman Hafij confirmed the matter.

 

A young man torched a roadside campaign banner pouring patrol on it on Friday night and managed to flee the scene, the OC said.

 

Rajshahi City Awami League Organising Secretary Azizul Alam Bentu said he hanged a huge size banner in the area for the publicity of PM’s upcoming rally.

 

The Prime Minister is likely to address from a rally in the city as the chief guest on February 22.
