Date-expired beverages seized in Rajshahi

Rajshahi : The Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, in a drive, seized 2,000 bottles of date-expired cold drinks from Kharkhari area in the city on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, the drive was conducted at a godown of a dealer about 11:30am when new dates were being pasted on the bottle earasing the expired dates, said Hasan Al Maruf, assitant director of the directorate.

Some 500 packets date expired biscuits were also seized during the drives.

But, the team could not held the dealer as he fled the scene sensing the team's presence.

The seized food items have been destroyed.
