
Rajshahi: Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested three activists of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) alongwith arms and ammunition from Jamira village in Puthia upazila early Sunday.
The arrested men are Shariful Islam aias Sharif, 45, son of Mokhlesur Rahman, Jakaria Hossain, 43, son of late Jahur Ali, and Ataur Rahman aias Ahsan Haji, 35, son of late Abdur Rahim.
Commander Lt Col Mahbubur Alam of RAB-5 said a team of RAB raided a tin-shed mill in Jamira village in Puthia upazila early Sunday where some JMB men were holding a clandestine meeting to carry out subversive activities.
They detained the three alongwith two foreign guns, two magazines, eight bullets, four hand bombs and some jihadi books from their possessions. But others managed to escape.
RAB-5 said the three JMB activists' works are to collect information about subversive activities, to invest money and to train the JMB members how to make bombs.
