College teacher found dead, husband held

Rajshahi : A female college teacher was found dead at her house in Bagmara on Thursday.

Police, however, detained he victim’s husband for interrogation.

Deceased Shamsun Nahar, 33, was a lecturer of Taherpur Degree College. Her Husband Saiful Islam is the former convenor of Taherpur Municipal unit Swechchhasebak Dal.

Nasim Ahmed, officer in charge of Bagmra Police Station, said that the reason of the death is still unclear.

During the initial investigation, police found injury marks on the body. Saiful Islam, however, confessed that he beat his wife, police said.

Police said Shamsun Nahar’s younger daughter saw the body lying on her bed at 10:00am and informed others.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Amzad Hossain Mridha, brother of Shamsun Nahar, told police that Saiful used to beat up his sister as the couple had a family feud.

That might have led to the death, he added.
