Assault on RU theatre activist protested

Rajshahi University Central Cultural Alliance has staged a cultural protest programme on the university campus following the beating incident of a theatre activist.

The protest programme was held in front of Central Library of the campus on Sunday at 12:00am where they demanded immediate suspension of the attackers from the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) as well as from the university too.

On Tuesday, some RU unit BCL activists led by its Information and Research Secretary Mahmudur Rahman Kanan and Arts Faculty unit BCL joint secretary Jhalak Sarker allegedly beat up Moinul Islam, a theater activist of RU, over a trifling matter.

The alliance leaders and activists submitted a memorandum to the RU proctor demanding immediate proper action against the accused persons.

Among others, Professor Moloy Kumar Bhoumick, advisor of RU Anushilon Natyadal, Professor Dr Sarker Sujit Kumar, general secretary of Udichi Shilpi Gosthi of Rajshahi, University Theatre adviser Professor Shah Azam Shantonu addressed the programme while cultural alliance president Indrajit Kumar presided over and general secretary Antor Ali conducted the programme.
