An anti-terrorism-militancy-drug assembly was organized at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium of Rajshahi University (RU) on Wednesday.

Student Community Policing of RU and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police jointly organized the program at around 12pm.
Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Jabed Patwary addressed the program as chief guest.

Jabed Patwary said, “Bangladesh Police has become a role model for the world to prevent militancy and terrorism. We have turned around in a very short time from Holi Artizan attack, like we turned around in 1971.”

The IGP also said, “The main obstacle to implementing ‘Vision 2021 and Vision 2041’ is drugs and militancy. It has become our main problem today. It's not just a police problem, it's a social problem. Everyone needs cooperation in order to counter this problem. We believe that if we (police) get help, we can eradicate militancy and drugs from Bangladesh soon.”

He also said, “Youth are facing terrorism due to depression and taking drugs. Students of the university must be kept away from these. For this, teachers have to play a vital role. There is a need to keep a counselor at each residential hall of the university.”

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman said, “We are working to counter terrorism, and drugs. But it is not possible to eliminate this problem from society forever. Everyone from every corner of our country has the responsibility to curb drug and terrorism. If people help police in this matter, police can easily eradicate these problems.”

RU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor M Abdus Sobhan presided over the programme where pro-VC Professor Ananda Kumar Saha, Proctor Professor Dr Lutfar Rahman, Rajshahi Range Police DIG Khurshid Hossain, President of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) RU unit Golam Kibria, General Secretary of RU BCL Faisal Ahmed Runu, RU Student Community Policing President Sumaiya Rahman Kanti and second year student of law department Abu Zaki Al Munzir also spoke at the program.

Sadakat Mahmud and Mahzabin Kotha, fourth-year students of law department of RU conducted the program.
In the assembly, at least two thousand teachers and students were present.
