
A man was stabbed to death and three others were injured, including two of his sons, in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi on Wednesday morning in an attack by his rivals over catching fish in a water-body.
Deceased Ansar Rahman Mridha, 50, was a resident of Kastonengra village in the upazila. He was also the treasurer of local Matsya Chashi Prakalpa.
Zahedul Islam, 30, and Ali Khwaza, 25, sons of Ansar, their neighbour Abul Kalam Azad, 35, received injuries in the attack, have been admitted to hospital
Bagmara Police Station officer in-charge Nasim Ahmed confirmed the matter.
He said two rival groups had been at loggerhead over fishing in the Zoka Beel for last several days. As a sequel to the dispute, Ansar Mridha's rivals stabbed him in Madhnagar Bazar around 9:15am.
In the meantime, the men also attacked Ansar Mridha's two sons and a neighbour as they came for his rescue, leaving them critically injured.
Injured Ansar Mridha and Ali Khwaza were rushed to Bagmara Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Mridha dead while injured Zahidul and Kalam were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
