Clean Padma awareness program held in Rajshahi

A public awareness campaign was arranged in Padma Lalon square of Rajshahi City on Saturday afternoon with a call to ensure clean riverside and pollution-free Padma River.

Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul inaugurated the campaign jointly arranged by Varendra Education Culture Diversity Protection Center and Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK).

The campaign was conducted to clean up the Padma River and to create awareness among the youths. At the same time, the youth urged the people to leave polythene and plastic packets and all garbage in specified places.

About 80 young men from Youth Action for Social Change, Bangladesh Innovative Education Service, Rotaract Club of Rajshahi and different educational institutions of the city, participated in the cleanliness campaign.

Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossen Bulbul said, “If the river pollutes then our lives also be polluted. To save Rajshahi it is mandatory to save the river Padma.”

He also urged all the people of all professions to come forward to save the Padma from pollution.
