A new mother died in a fatal C-section at Janasheba Clinic under Puthia upazila in Rajshahi and the newborn child was sent to Rajshahi Medical College in a critical condition on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Beauty Khatun, 20, wife of Selim Reza of Fulbari vaillage of the upazila.
Meanwhile, the clinic authority has managed to settle the issue in exchange for Tk 1 lakh on condition that the victim’s family can not file any case with police station.
The dead body of Beauty was buried on Monday morning at Dhopapara village without any autopsy.
Clinic owner Bulbul Ahmed claimed that doctor Faisal Shahnewaz did the operation, but Faisal denied the matter and said that he does not know Bulbul Ahmed.
On condition of anonymity, an employee of the clinic said, the placenta of Beauty was cut off during the caesarean operation. Then Beauty died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College hospital.
Upazila executive officer Abdullah Al Mahmud said police were sent to the spot after the incident, but the victim family was not interested in this matter. So any legal action was not possible.
Necessary steps will be taken against the clinic, Al Mahmud added.
