Police has recovered the hanging body of a newly-married girl from the city's Raipara area under Kashiadanga Police Station on Friday noon.
The victim was identified as Asha Khatun, 16, daughter of Shafiqul Islam of Kashiadanga.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiadanga Police Station, Rabiul Islam, said Asha was alone in their house on Friday morning. At around 11:30 pm, her mother Sagra Begum returned home and found her hanging.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College morgue for autopsy.
According to the family, the girl got married almost four months ago. After marriage, she was admitted to Class 7 in a local school. It is initially thought that he committed suicide.
Police said it could be confirmed after receiving an autopsy report.
Police are now investigating the incident. Legal action will be taken in this regard, added police officer.
