Female drug dealer injured in police firing

A female drug peddler was injured in police firing while trying to flee away from police van in Charkhutar crossing under Kashiadanga Police Station of Rajshahi on Wednesday night.

Accused Aziza Khatun, 40, wife of Eraj Ali, is an accused in eight cases filed under Narcotics Control Act. An arrest warrant was also issued against her by a court.

Kashiadanga Police Station OC Rabiul Islam said police detained Aziza during an anti-narcotics drive in the area at night. She tried to hit police with a machete. But police managed to recover the machete and 60 Yaba pills from her possession.

Police, later, fired on Aziza's right leg when she tried to flee away from the police van.

She was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
