There are a lot of litchis in all the markets of Rajshahi as this is the main season of litchi. Litchi shopping is going on everywhere in the market. In the month of Ramadan, people are returning home with litchi.
Department of Agriculture Extension of Rajshahi said, every year in Rajshahi, Litchi cultivation is growing and the production is also growing.
The production of litchi is more than 91 metric ton higher than last year when 2 thousand 510 ton litchi was produced. This year, litchi has been cultivated in 510 hectors of land. That is, litchi cultivation in Rajshahi has increased in 21 hectares of land as cultivation was on 489 hectors of land last year.
Rajshahi fruit market is now under the control of Litchi. Small traders are selling litchi on the footpaths of the city. Also in the residential areas, litchi is sold in the vans.
Litchi has been cultivated in Chotbongram, Borobongram, Kashiyadanga and in remote areas of Rajshahi. Not only Rajshahi, there are also lots of litchi from Natore, Naogaon, Dinajpur which are being sold and marketed in Rajshahi.
Per 100 pieces of Bombay and Madrasi variety of litchi are being sold at 250 to 280 taka. The local litchi is being sold at 200 to 250 taka.
Litchi is being sold at everywhere in the market of the city- Binodpur Bazar, Shalbagan, Upashahar, Noadapara and Lakshmipur Bazar. This litchi will continue its mastery until the mango arrives in the market.
