At the last stage of Ramadan, Eid shopping has got momentum in Rajshahi city with the growing crowd in the shopping centres.
Buyers choose their favorite clothes from among the native and foreign dresses. Although dresses named after Indian TV serials are not available this year, but Rajshahi Eid bazaar is splashed with Indian dresses. Because of many designs, buyers are also interested in the Indian dresses.
The shopkeepers at RDA Market, Jalil Biswas Market, New Market said on Thursday there is no dress according to the Indian serials’ name this year, but there are plenty of Indian dresses in the market as demand for these garments is much higher.
Gypsy, Tops, Frock, One Piece, Two Pieces, Three Pieces, Lehanga, Flour Touch, Short Tops, Ladies Plazo, Jegins etc are available for the girls in Rajshahi Eid market. The clothes are available between the lowest Tk 1000 to the maximum of Tk 2000, and most of these garments are Indian.
Monir Hossain, manager of Ma-Mariah Fashion house, said that no dresses arrived in the names like 'Pakhi 'or' Kiranamala' this year. But Indian 'Projapoti' Rakhi and Dali are attracting special attention of the buyers.
The shopkeepers said demand for Indian dress is very high this year. However, some Pakistani dresses have occupied a market share. Traders said that cost of all garments is still tolerant.
Sabina Islam, who came to buy three-pieces, said there are still days to come for Eid and So, she is slowly buying a couple of clothes.
“I bought clothes for my younger brother and mother. The rest are brothers and fathers. We are trying to buy cotton for everyone due to the summer season.”
Ayesha Akhter Liza, owner of Liza Fashion House at the RDA Market in the city, said that Indian 'One Peace' came for girls. It is selling from Tk 1500 to 4000. Three-piece 'Floor Touch' is being sold from Tk 2500 to 5000. Girls' plazu and paijamas are sold at Tk 1500 to 8000. Besides, Pakistani Lon at Tk 800 to 2200 and local three-pieces are being sold at Tk 650 to 2500. Some new gabardine pants and shirts have arrived in the market for young which are selling at a cheap price.
