Workers of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) demanded their two months’ salary before Eid-ul-Fitr, instead of which, they threatened locking the city corporation office.

Witnesses said workers under wages demonstrated blocking the entrance to the RCC building around 11pm. They demanded their due wages before Eid.

The protesters threatened to lock the main gate of the building on Tuesday, otherwise. Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul wasn’t present at Nagar Bhaban at that time.

City corporation and municipality employees federation general secretary Dulal Sheikh said, Mayor Mosaddek Hossain started election campaign without paying the salary and allowances of RCC employees.

RCC has been bankrupt due to embezzling of millions of taka by the mayor. Now employees cannot get due salary and wages, he alleged.
