Distribution of VGF (Vulnerable Group Feeding) rice was stopped allegedly by a local Awami League leader in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi on Wednesday.
Hundreds of ultra poor and distressed people of Guipara union parishad (UP) of the upazila are now suffering for the halting of VGF rice distribution.
Guipara union Awami League unit president Fazlur Rahman stopped the distribution in the morning leaving hundreds of people, who came from different areas, in misery.
Jalal Uddin, member of the UP confirmed the matter, adding that UP chairman Ruhul Amin went to upazila nirbahi office to confirm the matter.
Fazlur stopped the distribution at the very beginning of it, he added.
Abdullah Al Mahmud, upazila nirbahi officer of Puthia, said the incident is under investigation.
