Police arrested a young man on Friday night on charge of raping a college student promising her of marriage in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi.
Accused Surjit Kumar Manik, 30, is a resident of Gangghati Purbapara village of Kamargaon of Tanore upazila.
Tanore Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Islam said the girl had been in relationship with Manik for a long time. Manik built up physical relation with the girl promising her of marriage.
The college student, 25, filed a case with Tanore Police Station against three people, including Manik.
Manik was arrested on Friday night and was sent to jail on Saturday morning, the OC added.
