Urban Primary Health Care employees demonstrated in Tikapara area of Rajshahi at around 11:30 am on Monday, demanding salary arrears.

The employees under Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) held the protest closing medical services, causing suffering towards patients and their relatives.

The employees said if they are not paid due salary, they will go for more stringent programs. Currently, emergency service for C-section patients is being provided, but the outdoor department has been closed.

Nearly 120 employees are protesting for their nine months’ due salary. Employees' salary and bonus were not paid before the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Field Supervisor Amirul Islam said that their nine months’ salary was left unpaid. They will continue the protest if they are not paid the dues.

RCC chief health officer AFM Anjam Ara Begum said she does not know about this.
