Minor raped, man arrested

Police arrested a man on charge of raping a 7-year-old child in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi on Monday afternoon.

The alleged rapist was identified as Lalchand Ali, 42, a resident of the Khudra Jamira village under Belpukur union.

Accused Lalchand was sent to jail through court on Tuesday morning.

Belpukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Md Golam Mustafa said the incident occurred at a jute field in the village on Monday afternoon. The locals held him and handed him over to the police.

The girl's mother filed a rape case against the accused, the OC added.

SI Selim Reza said that the child admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital's OCC.
