A young man allegedly eloped with a school girl, while she was going to a half-yearly examination of Class X at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi.
Accused Matatum Hasan, 23, son of Jamaat activist Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Jotraghub village under Bazug Bagha union of the upazila, is a student of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute.
The girl's family filed a complaint with the concerned police station over a week ago but police have not been able to rescue the girl till date.
Baju Bagha Union Awami League president, Fazlul Haque, said, “It is possible to rescue the girl if police is sincere. I heard that Matatum was a Shibir activist.”
Bagha Police Station Officer-in Charge Rezaul Hassan, said, “I told Matatum Hasan’s family in this connection. They have taken two days time. Police will take steps in this matter if they fail.”
