Drug trader shot in gunfight

A drug trader was shot in a gunfight with Police at Godagari in Rajshahi, at around 3pm on Monday. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital.

The victim is identified as Abdul Matin. He is a resident of Baliadying village under the Deopara union of the upazila.

This incident happened at the village around 3pm on Monday. Police seized 200 gram of heroin and three local-made 'Hasua' from the spot. Three police were injured during the incident.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police and District Police spokesman, Abdur Razzak Khan, said a team of police conducted an anti-drug drive in Baliadying village. Sensing the presence of police, drug dealers fired on the police. Police also fired back to self defense. In it, the other people fled when Matin was shot in the leg.

Later, Matin was taken to the hospital. There are 10 cases filed against the drug addict with different police station, he added.
