Former chairman beats college girl

A former chairman of Bakshimile union of Rajshahi’s Mohanpur upazila allegedly beat up a college student in Rajshahi, as she refused his marriage proposal.

The accused was identified as Mahbub-or-Rashid, also general secretary of the BNP's Mohanpur upazila, a resident of Bhaturia village of Mohanpur upazila.

Police said Mahbub called the college girl to his house on Monday, asking her to get married in the afternoon. As the girl did not agree, he beat her and forced out of his house.

Mohanpur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Abul Kashem Azad said the college student was sent to the hospital for examination. Operation is on to nab the accused Mahabub.
