Clinic charges high despite patient dies

Authorities of a Rajshahi clinic allegedly charged excessive money without giving proper treatment resulting in death of a patient.

The incident took place at CDM Hospital in Laxmipur area of Rajshahi city at around 9:30 pm on Thursday.

The dead Tofazzul Hossain, 70, was son of late Omad Ali of Ramchandrapur Road area of the city.

Abdul Bari, brother-in-law of the deceased, said Tofazzal Hossain was admitted to the CDM hospital on Tuesday with respiratory problem. The doctor took him to ICU after admission, and he was put on life support on Thursday morning.

The on-duty doctor handed over the patient dead from hospital without giving any information about his death. Without any treatment, they collected Tk 65 thousand, he alleged. The accused doctor fled the scene after the incident.

Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station, said they did not get any complaints in this regard.
