Youth Action for Social Change (YASC) young organization formed a human chain at the Rajshahi railway station main gate to demand quick repairing of Rajshahi city’s damaged roads.
Moter workers' and local people participated spontaneously in the human chain at 10 am on Monday. They demanded reforming potholed roads stretching from Rajshahi Railway Station to Talaimari.
Speakers said the roads of the city are a little worthy of using, health of urban people are seriously harmed day by day due to street dust. Statistics show that the number of asthma patients in the city is increasing with breathing problems. The city's environment is getting polluted due to keeping garbage on the roadside.
If the roads are not repaired after the next city corporation elections, Rajshahi-Dhaka Highway will be blocked, said YASC president Shamsul Alam Shaon.
Varendra Zone coordinator Shahidul Islam, Program Officer Zahid Ali, YASC General Secretary Nazmul Islam Akash, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Fatema Ali Meghla and others spoke at the human development program of BARCIC (Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge).
Shahidul Islam, a private development research organization’s coordinator of Varendra zone of BARCIC, Zahid Ali, Program Officer, Nazmul Islam Akash, General Secretary of YASC, Fatema Ali Meghla, Women and Children Affairs Secretary spoke in the human chain.
YASC Advisor Salim Reza, Joint Organizing Secretary - Mumtahina Mim, Treasurer Sumon Halder, Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary Solaiman Hossain Rocky were present.
