Local people nabbed four people while receiving extortion money impersonating DB police, and handed over them to Charghat police in Rajshahi on Thursday evening.
The detainees were identified as Kauser Hossain, 25, son of Siraj Ali of Moktarpur village, Sumon Ali, 27, son of Akbar Ali of Gosherpur village, Mamunur Rashid, 23, son of Abed Ali of Kallnparpa village and Sharif Uddin, 27, of same upazila.
Local source said, on Thursday evening, four youths demanded toll money introducing selves as DB Police at Aminul Traders Dal Mill in the area of Holligagachi upazila.
Motiur Rahman, manager of Dal Mills, said the local people detained them and informed them.
Officer-in-Charge of Charghat Model Police Station, Nazrul Islam, said the local people handed over them to police. But they were released as there were no complaint against the detainees.
