Truck enters meat shop, man killed

A young man was killed and another three were injured in a road accident on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj Highway on the rail gate road under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Sunday early morning.

The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin, 29, a resident of Achuavata village of the upazila.

Rahim, 28, son of Mohiuddin of the same village, was seriously injured in the accident. He was sent to Rajshahi Medical College. The other injured returned home after first aid treatment.

Local sources said, in the road accidents, all the victims and injured were professionally butcher.

They were busy working to cut meat in the railway gate market on Sunday morning. At that time, a loaded truck from Chapainawabganj to Rajshahi, went straight into their meat-cutting areas. Jasim died on the spot. The rest were injured.

The locals rescued the injured, later, police rushed to the spot and took the truck to the police station. But the truck driver and helper fled the scene.

Officer-in Charge (OC) of Godagari Model Police Station, Jahangir Alam, said the body was handed over to the family.
