Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a pharmacist of Godagari Upazila Hospital while smuggling out medicines and medical goods from Rajshahi District Civil Surgeon's office store on Sunday evening.
He was detained in Kashiadanga area of Rajshahi city. At that time, a truck-full of government drug was seized.
The detainee pharmacist was identified as Saiful Islam, 40. However, the officer of the Rajshahi Civil Surgeon's Office, Mokbul Hossain, who is involved in the incident, is absconding.
RAB-5 Commander Major Ashraful Islam told reporters that the drugs were being taken out of the government store. However, on secret information, the medicine truck was detained first. Then pharmacist Saiful was detained.
He will be produced in the court, he added.
