With the rise of water in the Padma River, the people of Bagha Char area, who are separated from the mainland, are passing days in panic.

These chars are more populated and different crops are cultivated. There is no embankment to protect them from any tidal flood. The crop production in those chars depends on water level. People living in char area stay ready to face natural calamity.

There are 15 chars in the Padma under Bagha upazila. The majority of those people living there are landless and laborers. Those who live in the grazing land are not the owners of the land. The landowners live in the mainland.

The settlers are not completely dependent on agriculture, so they do not pay attention to the sustainable development of the grazing land.

Chakrajapur Union Parishad has been formed with 15 chars of Padma. Akkul Azam, chairman of Chakrajapur Union, said that efforts are being made to implement projects gradually for the people of Char.
