Indian cattle illegally coming through Charghat

Indian cattle are coming illegally through several border points in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.

As a result, the government is being deprived of huge amount of revenue. Local influential political people and some brokers are helping the smuggling.

For the last few days, Yusufpur, Gopalpur, Pirojpur, Raotha border of the upazila the cattle are being carried from India by managing the local administration of the upazila ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. In the name of controlling the administration, the brokers are taking Tk 10 thousand per pair of cows.

In the midnight, these smugglers entered India through that area. But several young people have already been tortured by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). Many are suffering in Indian jails.

Local moneylenders and brokers are being rich through the illegal business, but there is no improvement in the condition of the shepherds.

Asked about this, Rajshahi BGB CO Shamim Iftekhar said, there is no legal ways to bring cows in Charghat upazila. We do not even have information about cattle being illegally emerging.
