Nadira Begum, a woman councilor for reserved seat-8 (for ward no. 22, 23 and 24) has won in the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) elections with record number of votes.
Nadira Begum bagged 12 thousand 506 votes with her ‘jeep car’ symbol. No councilor candidate got more vote than Nadira in the three city corporation elections. She won by 10, 513 votes as her nearest rival Nazira Begum got 1993 votes. The total voters in this area were 24,293 people. Of these, 18,222 valid votes were cast. Former councilor Shahnaz Begum Shikha got 1459 votes.
Financially insolvent Nadira Begum campaigned on her son's van and used a mike she herself for seeking vote. Along with her son, she stuck her own poster on walls.
Nadira was defeated by just a few votes last time. But Nadira did not stop there. She was next to every locality of the last 5 years. This is the major capital of Nadira Begum's success.
