Some BCL activists of Rajshahi University (RU) allegedly attempted to hijack a personal computer and beat up a shop employee.

The university administration formed a three-member probe committee in this connection.

The accused are RU unit BCL vice-president Sarwar Hossain, organizing secretary Imtiaz Ahmed and another 6-7 people.

The members of the inquiry committee are Mathematical Science and Engineering Department assistant Professor Gazi Touhidur Rahman, Islamic History and Culture Department Assistant Professor Rabiul Islam, and Fine Arts department Assistant professor Humayun Kabir.

Earlier on Wednesday, the employee of the shop 'ME Computer' Shariful Islam filed a written complaint to the RU administration.

Shariful Islam said, "The two students came to the shop on Monday evening and asked me if I know someone named Happy. When I said that I know him, they demanded 10 thousand taka from me. When I refused to pay the money, they started beating me. They also tried to snatch a personal computer. "

Accused Sarwar Hossain denied the computer hijacking and beatings and said, "We have not beaten anyone. It's just a false allegation. Imtiaz's cousin went there to take two thousand taka.”

RU BCL General Secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu said, "The matter has been discussed with the university Proctor. The matter will be settled. "

Asked about this, Proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman said, "We received written complaints about this. A three-member committee has been formed in this connection. Action will be taken through investigation."
