Some doctors of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) have allegedly been involved in substandard vitamin business.
Physicians cheated on patients for making more money despite this vitamin has no effect. This locally produced Vitamin is sold through a syndicate in different drug stores in city with various local names.
According to reliable sources of the hospital, there are 11 women and eight male brokers in the outside department. There are also one or two brokers in each ward in the hospital. They persuade the patients’ guardians and take them to private clinic or hospital. The brokers are entering freely by managing the employers with different types of attractive gifts, pad and pen.
The Health and Family Welfare Ministry issued a circular to take necessary measures to prevent the broker in the hospitals and health care establishments. It also suggested strict action against the brokers. If any hospital employee gets involvement with the brokerage, strict action would be taken against them.
Representatives of the drug company and the brokers (men and women) syndicate are walking freely without following rules.
Zakia Sultana, a guardian of patient said that most of time specialist doctor never seen the ward. Occasionally they come. Most of the time, the treatment was provided by the Registrar or the Internal Physician. If you tell them something about the pain or suffering of the patient, then they shout on us. Also some days the doctor is not available in the ward.
Jamat Khan, General Secretary of Rajshahi Raksha Sangram Parishad, said there was a lack of proper management of RMCH Hospital. He urged to immediately bring back the proper environment of treatment in RMC Hospital.
RMCH Director Brigadier General Md. Jamilur Rahman said he has warned about the incidents, and such activities have come down.
