tudent of Rajshahi University (RU) was allegedly beaten up by Bangladesh Chhatra league (BCL) leaders of the university unit as he mistakenly poured water on them.
The victim was Rajesh Mahato, a third year student of Social Work department and a residential student of Shaheed Habibur Rahman hall.
The alleged BCL leaders were- Muntakim Pavel, Joint secretary of RU BCL, Rifat and Anik, third year students of zoology department.
Rajesh alleged that, around noon, he threw water into the drain of the ground floor from the top floor where he lives. But mistakenly water fell on two boys, who were on the first floor.
So the boys got angry on me and called me to their room. At one point, they asked me to buy cigarettes for them. But when I failed to buy, they again took me to a room. They slapped me, kicked on my legs and also beat me with ‘iron rod’.
BCL leader Muntakim Pavel said, “I slapped not only Rajesh, but also both of the group for creating such a situation beside my room at the dormitory, as a senior brother.”
The two other students also denied the allegation.
