Motorcycle rider killed by bus

A motorcycle rider was killed in a road accident at Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at Puthia upazila in Rajshahi on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sentu, 30, son of Rustam Ali, resident of Katakhali Harian area, said Belpukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mustafa.

Quoting the witnesses, OC said Sentu was returning to Katakhali from Banshwar on a motorcycle. A speeding bus from opposite side hit him and he fell into a ditch beside Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway near Belpukur thana.

Locals rescued him and took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital while the duty doctor declared him dead. But the passenger bus could not be identified as it sped away.

An accident case has been filed with Belpukur Police Station. The body will be handed over to the family after the autopsy, added OC.
