Man drowns as boat sinks in Padma

A farmer has gone missing as a boat capsized in the Padma River near Chakrajapur under Bagha upazila of Rajshahi on Tuesday afternoon.

The missing was identified as Barik Khan, 50, son of late Waheed Khan, a resident of Chandjapur Chor of Padma.

Witnesses said the boat sank while the victim was shifting his house in the boat to save from river erosion.

Chakrajpur union chairman Azizul Azam confirmed the matter.

Bagha Upazila Executive Officer Shahin Reza said that a man has been missing as a boat capsized in the river. Divers are trying to rescue the missing person, he added.
