Three child marriages stopped in Rajshahi

At least three child marriages have been foiled in a day at Bagha in Rajshahi on Thursday.

Upazila executive officer Shahin Reza confirmed the suspension of this child marriage.

Upazila Executive Officer Shahin Reza said three child marriages were stopped by a special operation in the bride's home separately during the wedding ceremony.

The girls are Rukaiya Yasmin, daughter of Abul Kalam Azad of Monigram South Para village of Bagha upazila, Rabi Khatun, daughter of Rozadar Ali of Atgharia village, Annie Khatun, daughter of Mohidul Islam of Maliandha-Kishorepur village.

They are the students of Class VIII at local schools in their respective areas. But they are aged between 15 and 16 years.
Preparations for their marriage at home were going on. During this time, Shahin Reza, along with police force, detained the relatives and close relatives of the brides.
