The body of an auto-rickshaw driver was found in a banana orchard at Chakpalashi village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district on Sunday morning.

Deceased Zahangir Hossain, 35, was the son of Razab Ali, a resident of Gandagohali village in the upazila, said Puthia Police Station officer in-charge Sakil Uddin Ahmed.

The OC said locals spotted the body around 10:00am and informed police.

Police, later, went to the spot and sent the body to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue.

Earlier, Zahangir along battery-run auto-rickshaw went out home on Saturday night and did not return home.

The body bore several injury marks, the OC said. Police initially suspected that miscreants might have snatched away the auto-rickshaw and strangulated its driver to death.
