Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 members detained a counterfeit money trader with tools and Tk 11 lakh fake money was seized from Sultanabad area in Rajshahi city on Thursday evening.
The detainee was Duruduzzaman, 27, son of late Rahidul, resident of Sheikh Tola village of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
According to the RAB sources, on a tip off, a RAB-5 team conducted a raid at house no. 66 of Sultanabad area of the city and seized fake currency to the tune of around Tk 11 lakh and counterfeiting tools from the house.
At the same time, Duruduzzaman was also arrested at home. Later, RAB handed over Daurudduzzaman with fake money and counterfeiting tools to Boalia Police Station.
Boalia model police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aman Ullah confirmed the matter and said, RAB-5 handed over the money forger and the fake money along with related copying machines to the police station.
A case was filed with the PS in this connection.
