Mob beat policemen for demanding extortion

Mob beat two police members in Chalkpara tribal village in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi for demanding extortion on Thursday.

The alleged police members are: assistant sub-inspector Faruq Hossain and Constable Shahadat Hossain of Godagari Model Police Station.

Witnesses said local people beat up two police members while they demanded Tk 10,000 toll to Chikon Murari, an ethnic minority man of the village, and confined them in the evening.

Hasmot Ali, inspector of the police station, said police rescued the personnel. Necessary action will be taken over the allegation, he added.
