Mitali recites for Rabeya Khatun

Mitali Mukherjee is popularly known as a singer. The Mymensingh born vocalist at present has settled down in Mumbai, India. Still she visits Dhaka on special occasions. One of those occasions was December 27. On this day writer Rabeya Khatun turned 84. Mitali attended a programme arranged to pay respect to the writer on her birthday at her Banani residence in the capital city. There Mitali not only sang but also recited verses from many a poems. This was the first time Dhaka audience got to hear from the reciter Mitali. Present among the audience were Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Channel i and son of Rabeya Khatun; Keka Ferdousi, daughter of Rabeya Khatun; singer Konal; Afzal Hossain and children's fiction writer Amirul Islam.
Mitali Mukherjee has become a familiar face for Channel i's musical reality contests. This is how she has developed a close bonding with the family of Rabeya Khatun. About her sudden arrival Mitali said, "Before coming on a sudden notice here a number of realizations worked within me. Thus I flew in without notifying anyone here." Affectionately referring to Rabeya Khatun as "Auntie" she said that the pleasure she saw in the faces of her auntie and others at her sudden arrival has given her the prime satisfaction.
Poetry recitation has been present in Mitali's lineage for a long time. "Now people in Bangladesh have got to learn it too," she added.
