The High Court has issued a ban on future mobile call rate hikes and on charging subscribers for dropped call, which was issued for all five mobile phone operators in the country -- Grameenphone, Robi, Airtel, Banglalink and Teletalk. The court has also directed the authorities concerned to form a committee to look into the call rates and take necessary steps. Lawyer for the writ submitters, Advocate Ishrat Hassan, said that, "The imposition of additional call charges in August without seeking opinion of subscribers is illegal and contrary to subscribers' rights.
