
A 11-member delegation of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) visited Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) on Thursday.
The members of the delegation included representatives from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and CIMMYT and South Asia Biosafety Programme. Dr Pradyumna Raj Pandey, Senior Programme Specialist, SAARC Agriculture Centre, Dhaka led the delegation.
BARI Director (Training & Communication) Zebun Nessa with other directors welcomed the delegation at the time of their arrival in the institute in the morning. Dr Babul Chandra Sarker, Chief Scientific Officer of Pomology Division of the Horticulture Research Center, gave a brief power point presentation on the activities and achievements of BARI at the seminar room. BARI Director (Research) Dr Md Abdul Wohab, Director (Support Services) Dr Madan Gopal Saha, Director (Training & Communication) Zebun Nessa, Director (Horticulture) Dr Abeda Khatun, senior scientists, officers, and others, were present at the occasion.
Later, the delegation visited Biotechnology Lab, IPM & Toxicology Lab, FMPE Lab, Post-harvest Lab and expressed their satisfaction by seeing activities, advancements and achievements of BARI.
