AL candidate Umme Kulsum Smrity wins Gaibandha-3 by-polls

Awami League candidate Advocate Umme Kulsum Smriti has been elected unofficially after winning the by-election at Gaibandha-3 (Sadullapur-Palashbari) constituency with a huge margin.

Smrity won the by-election unofficially receiving 2,14,882 votes.

Her nearest rival BNP candidate Prof Dr Moynul Hasan Sadik got 41,408 votes.

Umme Kulsum was general secretary of Bangladesh Krishak League’s central committee.

Returning officer (RO) and also district election officer Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the matter.

A large number of voters cast their ballots in the by-election held at 132 centres in Sadullapur and Palashbari upazilas on Saturday
