ACC official dies of coronavirus

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) director Jalal Saifur Rahman died of coronavirus at Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital in the capital on Monday morning.

He breathed his last at the hospital around 7:30am.

Saifur had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for last 27 days, the hospital sources said.

Later, he died after a cardiac arrest this morning.

Saifur's wife and son have been kept at the isolation unit of the hospital.

The ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud expressed deep shock at the death of Saifur.

Meanwhile, the ACC officials and employees who came in contact with the late official on March 24-25 in the office have been sent to quarantine.
