A fresh coronavirus infected patient has been detected at Nagarpur upazila in Tangail district.
The 24-year old coronavirus patient, Selim Reza, hails from village Nandapara in Sahabatpur union under the upazila.
With him, a total of three coronavirus infected patients have emerged in the district.
The youth has been kept in isolation at a room in his house following the detection of infection on Friday night. Besides, 30 houses in and around the area have been put on lockdown by the Nagarpur upazila administration. He was sent to the isolation ward of Tangail General Hospital for treatment on Saturday morning.
Upazila Health and Family Planning officer Dr M Rokonuzzaman Khan said Selim became afraid of coronavirus infection as he used to work with a person who was detected with coronavirus infection in Bhuapur upazila on April 15.
"Later, he contacted with us, and sent his blood sample along with the samples of two other people to IEDCR for tests on Thursday. The test result showed that Selim Reza was infected with coronavirus.
It is learnt that coronavirus infected Abu Sayeed of Bhapur upazila and Selim Reza of Nagarpur upazila lived in Dhaka. Both worked at Aristopharma Limited. He came to his home in Nagarpur upazila from Dhaka on April 10.
Panic has gripped the entire Nagarpur upazila following the detection of three coronavirus infected patients.
