Former MP Engineer Faruque Alam Howlader dies

Engineer Faruque Alam Howlader, former Member of Parliament from Shariatpur-3 constituency of Jatiya Sangsad died of old age complications on Sunday morning. He was 80. [Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajewn].

He was undergoing treatment at the ICU of Regent Hospital at Sector 11 in Uttara due to old age complications. He died at about 7:00am.

Engineer Faruque Alam Howlader was also the former Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), former Deputy Chief Engineer of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, and former General Manager of BFIDC. He was elected Member of Parliament from Shariatpur-3 constituency during 1986 general election under Jatiya Party banner.

Alam was born on 1 March 1940 at Damudya upazila in Shariatpur district to Sultan Alam Howlader and Noor Jahan Begum.  He was admitted to Erik Dahlbergs College of Engeeniering at Jonkoping, Sweden in 1966 and obtained his graduation in Civil Engineering in 1970.
